Accompanied by a photo of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trump stated that the United States has “lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China.”
“Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China. May they have a long and prosperous future together,” Trump wrote, underscoring his worries about China’s expanding influence on major global players.
The comments came in the wake of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held earlier this week in Tianjin, China. The SCO, initially designed to counterbalance U.S. influence in Central Asia, has gained critical strategic importance amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine and global trade tensions.
Earlier this week, Trump also accused China, Russia, and North Korea of conspiring against the United States following a grand military parade in Beijing marking 80 years since World War II’s end. He highlighted the bravery of American soldiers who fought in China, urging that their sacrifices be remembered amidst rising concerns over U.S.-China relations.
