The leadership of the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, has expressed interest in partnering with the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) to enhance public safety education.
This was the focus during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) Modibbo Ibrahim, to ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek, who is also the Publisher and CEO of The Informant247.
Modibbo praised ASKOMP for its impactful work and stressed the vital role of the media in educating the public and shaping public narratives. “Media plays a critical role in society, especially in setting the agenda. It is important for us to develop a productive relationship with the media to effectively communicate our activities to a wide audience,” he said.
He highlighted that the fire service operations are grounded in humanitarian services, focusing on saving lives and protecting property. “Besides publicizing our work, we need to train and sensitize the public on fire safety tips, which requires strong synergy with the media,” Modibbo added.
In his remarks, ASKOMP Chairman Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek commended the newly appointed PRO for initiating the partnership. He noted that the fire service’s mission aligns with the objectives of ASKOMP members and expressed confidence that the collaboration would bring positive results.
“One of the core purposes of the press is to serve society, and I believe our partnership will enhance efforts to prevent fire incidents by educating the public through media platforms,” he stated.
He further assured the fire service leadership of ASKOMP’s continued support in all their activities.
