Court issues criminal summons as Hon Iliasu Ibrahim again shuns appearance in defamation case
Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has issued a criminal summon against Hon. Iliasu Ibrahim following his refusal to appear in the defamation case involving him and two others.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Wednesday, counsel to Hon. Iliasu again told the court that his client is sick and unable to appear before the court to take his plea.
The two other defendants Shola Muse and Adesomowo Adegogo were however in the court.
The Judge Hon Justice E . B Mohammed thereafter issued a Criminal Summon on him to unfailing appear in court at the next adjourned date, which is 20th January, 2026 for their arraignment in the case.
It will be recalled that Hon. Illiasu Ibrahim had made same excuses on 19th December, 2025 when they were to be arraigned through his Counsel of his absence in court when the arraignment was shifted to yesterday 7th January, 2026.
The three defendants had gone on radio to allege that the Mutawali of Ilorin Dr. Alimi Abdulrazaq was awarded an $800m contract by his brother, a claim now found to be outright falsehood to malign the Governor and his family because of political differences.
